16 August 2022

The session focus on educating women about gender mainstreaming and gender equality. In 1995 South Africa adopted and ratified the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women. This was a commitment that the State would take all appropriate steps to ensure the full development and advancement of women, to guarantee them the enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms on the basis of equality with men.

The Commission for Gender Equality explained the strides that have and are being made in gender mainstreaming and encouraged women to stand up for their rights.
