Sarah Baartman District Municipality Welcomes Delegation from China

The purpose of this visit was to strengthen the partnership between Jingcheng Municipality and Sarah Baartman District Municipality, this was done through a partnership agreement between one of SBDM’s local municipality’s, Dr Beyers Naude Municipality, and one of Jingcheng’s local municipality’s, Qinshui County. The partnership agreement focuses on establishing a Friendly Exchange Relationship to promote cooperation through close contact and exchanges that contribute to the mutual development and benefit of citizens on both sides. All parties will carry out high-level visits to promote practical cooperation between the local municipalities in the above-mentioned areas, to promote common prosperity and development. The municipal governments of both sides will encourage enterprises of the both regions to engage with each other to promote multi-field co-operation between the two regions, especially between Qinshui County and Dr Beyers Naude Municipality - to carry out exchanges and co-operation in the fields of investment, trade, education, culture, tourism, energy, infrastructure development, agriculture, and agri-process.

As part of this existing relationship between Sarah Baartman District Municipality and Jincheng Municipality, two local businesses from the Somerset East ( Tollie’s African Safaris Pty Ltd) and Hankey (Pabala Nature Reserve Pty Ltd) have signed Memorandum’s of Understanding with Taihang Yunding Culture and Tourism Development Co Ltd in Linchuan County, China. These MoU’s will assist in promotion of tourism and economic growth. The Head of Linchuan County was part of the delegation and witnessed the signing of the MoU's, this shows the County's commitment to the partnership.
